Following the announcement that a limited number of fans will be allowed to attend sporting events this December the World Darts Championship has been made exempt from the ‘substantial meal’ rule.
The Alexandra Palace will host 1,000 fans for the World Darts Championship which begins on December 18th and fans won’t be required to buy a ‘substantial meal’ in order to get alcohol.
Fancy dress costumes have been banned however with an exception for Christmas jumpers which means the Ally Pally will be slightly less colourful this year.
A total of 1,000 fans can attend each night for the Championship but each group must be from of the same households or support bubbles from December 15th to Jan 3rd.
Chanting and singing have also been banned and the PDC have said that social distancing measures will be in operation, spectators will be required to arrive at designated times and food and drink will be served directly to tables and booked via a dedicated App.
