Deontay Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel has revealed that they are open to a superfight with Anthony Joshua.
With Joshua and Wilder having been dethroned as heavyweight champions by Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury respectively, both fighters’ reputations are in need of some repair.
Usyk and Fury are now widely regarded as the two finest heavyweights on the planet, with Joshua and Wilder sitting in third and fourth, with the order undetermined.
Perhaps the best way for either fighter to solidify themself in the number three spot would be to meet the other in the ring and defeat them.
It certainly looks as though there is a possibility of that happening at some point in time, with Shelly Finkel, Widler’s co-manager, saying the following to the press.
Deontay Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel has said they are open to a fight with Anthony Joshua: “It really depends mentally what Joshua feels he needs. If he needs a break and a comeback fight. Or if he feels the real redemption is with Deontay, we’re open to it.” [@SunSport]

Fighting Wilder immediately after suffering back-to-back losses to Usyk would be an enormous risk for Joshua, who can ill afford to suffer yet another defeat.
Joshua would perhaps be better off taking a less risky fight, getting a victory back on his record and biding his time. That would appear to make much more sense.
