Frank Warren has revealed that Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua is currently on hold.
While we all thought that the Fury vs Joshua ship had sailed after the latter lost his heavyweight belts to Oleksandr Usyk, the flames on the fire were stoked this month.
Fury, who is intending to fight in December, offered Joshua the opportunity to be his opponent and fight for the WBC heavyweight title.
Joshua, at least verbally, agreed, with both sides confirming talks were on. However, they have now been paused, and for a very good reason…
Frank Warren has explained that they’ve put Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua talks on hold following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and will resume in the next week: “Tyson and I, we just don’t feel it’s appropriate at the moment out of respect for the Royal Family.” [@talkSPORT]

Whether this ‘pause’ potentially threatens the fight ever coming to fruition remains to be seen. We would certainly hope that not to be the case.
It’s right that they don’t sell a fight billed ‘The Battle of Britain’ immediately after the Queen’s passing, but it’s unclear how long they will wait.
The country will lay Her Majesty to rest next Monday. Once the dust has settled, perhaps we will then get some kind of confirmation.
