With the club season in full flow, after the inter county season finishing up earlier this season, we have seen some great club games, but have seen some awful incidents where match referee’s have been assaulted.
It’s great we live in an age of camera phones and these individuals are now being caught on camera, where as in the past they weren’t. There was a county board meeting this week in Wexford and the purpose of that meeting was to discuss the promotion of good discipline and the protection of referees.”
One of the proposals at that meeting was the possibility of a lifetime ban for anyone that assaults a referee, it’s good to see Wexford stepping up in this matter, but really a lifetime ban for anyone that does this, is a no brainer and was hasn’t this been done before?
