Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt had positive news today on Cian Healy’s recovery from injury.
The Leinster prop has yet to play any part in the World Cup warm-up series as he works his way back from a neck operation in May.
There were fears Healy would not be fit in time for next month’s tournament, but Schmidt said today his recovery is going well.
He suggested Healy may even get some game time against England in the final warm-up game next week.
“Cian is really picking up, he’s doing really well,” Schmdit said: “He trained fully Tuesday and Thursday and did all the contact.
“He’s a lot more positive about where he can get to in the next two or three weeks and it gives us a bit of confidence as well.
“I wouldn’t rule out some involvement (against England) the way he is going. It would most likely be off the bench. We may be looking to give him 20 minutes but we are also prepared to be patient.”
