On this day in 1994 French footballing legend Zinedine Zidane made his first appearance for the French national team coming on as a substitute in a friendly against the Czech Republic.
The game ended in a 2–2 draw after Zidane scored twice to help France erase a 2–0 deficit.
It would turn out to a landmark day in French football as Zidane would take over the playmaker position the following January after Eric Cantona was handed a year-long suspension for assaulting a fan.
