Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has paid the ultimate compliment to Old Trafford new boy Bruno Fernandes by saying the Portuguese playmaker is better than he was.

Speaking to Manchester United’s official website the Old Trafford legend claimed that 26 year-old Fernandes is better than he ever was.

“He’s better than me. He’s different to me, He scores more goals than me, he creates more goals than me. I’d like to play with him, probably behind him would be alright. But no, he’s been sensational, a big difference.

“I think before he came to the team, United could hardly create a chance with some of the stuff they were playing, but now they look like they can score three, four or five goals every game.” said Scholes.

Scholes is considered by many to be one of the Premier League’s greatest ever players so for him to give such praise to Fernandes is testament to the impact the Portuguese international has made since joining United in January.

Fernandes has so far managed to score 10 goals and provide six assists this season adding to his previous eight goals and seven assists from the second half of the 2019/20 season.

Fernandes has been directly involved in just over half (31) of Manchester United’s 60 Premier League goals in 2020 setting a new record for most goal involvements since Frank Lampard’s previous record of having 29 goal involvements in a calendar year back in 2009.

Scholes managed to score 152 goals and provide 73 assists in his 709 appearances for United, a record Fernandes is capable of beating should his magnificent form continue.
