Alphonso Davies’s ferocious header will go down in history as Canada’s first-ever World Cup goal.
The Bayern Munich fullback is deployed in a more attacking role for his country, playing on the left of a front three.
The versatile speedster showed that he has got that clinical edge in him when he raced onto the end of a looping cross to head Canada in front.

Canada’s only other appearance in the World Cup came in 1986, where to failed to score and were eliminated in the group stages.
A win against Croatia would put them in the driving seat of group F. They would then have to get a result against group leaders Morocco in their final game to put them through.
