On a busy night of GAA appeals, Tiernan McCann’s proposed eight-week ban for discrediting the association has been overturned by the Central Hearings Committee (CHC) in the early hours of Thursday morning.
McCann was set to be banned for taking a dive when his hair was ruffled by Monaghan’s Darren Hughes but is now free to face Kerry in Sunday’s All-Ireland semi-final.
McCann’s dive had provoked outrage but the proposed suspension from the CCCC was criticised for being ‘unlawful’ by Joe Brolly, a line the CHC appear to have agreed with.
