Twitter reacts to Mayo’s draw with Dublin

By Robert McNamara

It looked like Dublin were heading for another final today as they took on Mayo in the SFC semi-final, but after failing to register a score in the last 15 minutes, they were pegged back by a late Mayo resurgence which sets up a replay at Croke Park.

The referee, Dublin’s forceful approach to defending and Mayo’s frustrating attack were the big talking points of the game.

Here’s how Twitter reacted as Mayo and Dublin drew:

Mayo fans were certainly confident ahead of throw-in

It was a frantic start!

Abbreviating GAA player’s names now are we?!

The anti-Dublin crowd were out in force as always

But they also had some colourful support

And what better stage than the biggest sporting event in the country for a bit of a protest

Mayo seemed to be playing against history as well as Dublin at times

Dublin’s Johnny Cooper was a lucky man to stay on the field

As always the ref came in for some criticism for some controversial decisions

The game came alive in the second half

But some people still weren’t happy with the entertainment

Twitter thought Dublin’s second goal killed the game off, but it didn’t quite, as the Dubs failed to score in the last 15 minutes

An opportunity missed for Dublin, a reprieve for Mayo and another big payday for the GAA

And of course the RTÉ panel was as entertaining as the game
