🚨 Tony Bellew urges British boxer to hang up the gloves

Tony Bellew believes a British heavyweight should retire after his latest performance.

Joe Joyce recently lost to veteran heavyweight Derek Chisora on points and was even dropped by the former world title challenger.

At 38 years of age it’s hard to imagine how Joyce can climb back up the rankings having also suffered back-to-back defeats to the hard-hitting Zhilei Zhang.

And former Cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellew has urged the 2016 Olympic silver medalist to call it a day.

Speaking to Casino Apps he said: “I’ve thought Joe Joyce has been done for a while. I don’t think he’ll ever recover from the Zhilei Zhang fight. Joe’s greatest asset is his durability. Joe’s greatest asset is his toughness and the way he takes punches, that’s gone.

“When you’re getting dropped in fights, it’s just time for him to stop because he’s so slow and so predictable.”

“It’s just an accident waiting to happen. So I hope Joe walks away because I don’t want to see him get hurt. He’s a lovely man. A lovely, lovely fella.

Recently Bellew himself was called out for a fight by Derek Chisora, but similarly he’s urged his old friend to walk away from the sport.

”And the same goes for Derek [Chisora]”, Bellew added, ”I love Derek. I mean, he’s just gotta stop saying my bleeding name!”
