It’s one year to the day since Manchester United signed Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon and what a signing it would turn out to be.

Fernandes joined the Red Devils on January 29th 2020 for a fee reportedly worth up to €80 million (£67.6 million).

Since joining the Portuguese playmaker has completely turned Manchester United around and reinvigorated a side that had bundles of talent but no killer instinct.

Fernandes has been compared to club legends such as Eric Cantona and Roy Keane due to his ferocious appetite to win.

On March 16th 2020, Fernandes won his first Premier League Player of the Month for February and in June he won multiple club and Premier League awards, including the Premier League Player of the Month, Goal of the Month and he also became the first player in Premier League history to win both awards concurrently.

Fernandes also went on to become the first Manchester United player to win back to back Premier League Player of the Month awards since Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2006–07 season.

Such was the 26-year-old’s impact at Old Trafford, Fernandes won Manchester United’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award, an award given to the club’s best player from the previous season. Fernandes had only played half a season.

Since joining the Red Devils Fernandes has been directly involved in more Premier League goals than any other player and Manchester United have also picked up more points than any other club since his debut.

In the Premier League alone Bruno Fernandes has played 34 times scoring 19 goals and providing 14 assists – a truly remarkable return.
