Spurs sign Son Heung-Min from Bayer Leverkusen

Tottenham have announced the signing of forward Son Heung-min from Bayer Leverkusen.

Son, who has been handed the number seven shirt, has signed a five-year deal with the north London club for a reported transfer fee of £22million.

The 23-year-old’s move to White Hart Lane is subject to a work permit and international clearance.

Son, a South Korea international, scored 29 times in 87 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen after joining the club in 2013 from Hamburg.

He was the Bundesliga outfit’s top scorer in the Champions League last season with three goals.

Son’s arrival at White Hart Lane will help to ease the pressure on Harry Kane, who has failed to find the target this season.

It could also spell the end of Tottenham’s pursuit of Saido Berahino. Spurs have already had two offers rejected for the West Brom striker.

Son has 11 goals in 44 appearances for his country and scored in their defeat against Algeria in the group stages of last summer’s World Cup.
