🚨 Second boxer in the gender eligibility row wins to progress to the next round

Sitora Turdibekoval left the boxing ring in tears after losing her round-of-16 Olympic bout to Lin Yu-Ting of Taiwan.

Two-time world champion Lin Yu-Ting went the full three rounds to beat Sitora Turdibekova, 22, and is now only one win away from a guaranteed Olympic medal.

Lin has been at the centre of a gender eligibility row along with Algeria’s Imane Khelif after both women failed gender eligibility tests at the Women’s World Championship in India last year.

Yin had their hand raised in the end via unanimous decision over her Uzbek rival.

Khelif’s bout with Angela Carini caused uproar yesterday after the Italian quit the fight after just 46 seconds of action.
