🚨 Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh unveils new plan to finally stop users streaming fights illegally

Saudi Arabian boxing chief Turki Alalshikh has some big plans for the pay-per-view market.

The cost of watching boxing is high, with multiple different platforms to subscribe to and many PPV’s to purchase each year.

The cost of paying for the events has driven many fans to turn to streaming the big fights for free via various different websites.

According to some claims, 20 million people illegally streamed Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk’s historic undisputed heavyweight clash in May, costing TV rights holders around £95m in lost revenue.

In an attempt to tackle illegal streaming and gain more boxing fans to the sport, HE Alalshikh has promised to drastically cut PPV prices for all of the Riyadh Season cards.

He told talkSPORT’s ‘White and Jordan’ programme on Monday: “You mention the [next] PPV [headlined by Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois].

“I think this is my next big fight, and I want your advice also. I dream of a PPV with a good price to make the fans happy, and subscribe and get them to watch it legally.

“Usually when I see a high [priced] PPV, a lot of people go and watch the fight illegally, and this is not healthy for boxing and the platform.

“I would prefer to have one million fans subscribe and buy the PPV for £20 than less than 500,000 [for £40].”
