Sam Allardyce calls for a break in football action to combat rising cases in the game.

‘Big Sam’ Sam Allardyce wants a break from football to help stop the spread of covid, this week saw the biggest number of positive covid cases in the Premier league.

“I am 66 years old and the last thing I want to do is catch Covid. I’m very concerned for myself and football in general.”

The West Brom manager has never been afraid to speak his mind having demanded a winter break for a long time, until it was finally give this year in February for the first time ever.

Manchester City’s game at Everton on Monday was postponed four hours before kick-off due to an outbreak at City, while Fulham’s game at Tottenham on Wednesday is in doubt due to positive cases in the Cottagers’ squad.

Does Sam Allardyce have a point, covid is spreading all over Europe at the moment and England have had a particular tough time with the virus. But surely football doesn’t have to stop?
