Cristiano Ronaldo no-show escalates attempts to leave Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo has escalated his attempts to leave Manchester United, having decided against turning up for the first day of pre-season training.

As was reported by the Times last week, Ronaldo is understood to have informed Manchester United of his intention to leave the club if a suitable offer arrives over the summer transfer window.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich are two clubs which have been credited with an interest, but that’s no guarantee that either club will provide him with a plausible route out of Old Trafford this summer.

Regardless, Ronaldo appears intent on leaving and is not afraid to burn bridges with his current employers. The Portuguese superstar has opted against attending his first day back for pre-season training.

There could, of course, be legitimate family reasons which will prevent Ronaldo from heading to Carrington today, but it does seem like a bit of a coincidence that he has recently asked to leave.

Considering a recent flurry of media reports suggested that Man United were not prepared to sell Ronaldo, he may well be forced to take matters into his own hands in order to get a move.

Whether it pays off is something we’ll have to wait and see. He’ll certainly he hoping it does, else he’ll be stuck at Man United for another season, with his relationship with the fans tainted…
