Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has taken to Instagram to react to the controversial scenes that unfolded at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Robertson was fortunate to be able to continue in the contest after Harry Kane flew in studs-up and made contact with his shin. Were the Scotsman’s leg to be planted in the ground, it could have been a leg-breaker. Either way, referee Paul Tierney or the VAR official ought to have sent Kane for an early shower – but they didn’t.
Kane was allowed to play on for the duration of the game, which perhaps left Robertson with a chip on his shoulder. The Liverpool full-back swung rather overzealously in an attempt to win the ball back from Spurs’ Emerson Royal, with VAR recommending that Tierney head to the monitor and Robertson subsequently being sent off.

His red card, while it wasn’t a particularly pretty challenge, was arguably not as bad as the one that Kane had committed on him earlier in the game. That has left Liverpool fans and Jurgen Klopp FURIOUS and demanding some sort of consistency in Premier League officiating. Robertson has chosen his words carefully, but you get the impression he’s not happy either…

Robertson’s comments were class. Too bad the author of this Tottenham hit-piece couldn’t follow his lead. Jamie – you’re missing your chance for big $$$ – I hear Fox News in the states has a spot for you. You’ll fit right in.
