Man United boss Ralf Rangnick explains why he REJECTED Chelsea earlier this year

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that he rejected an approach from Chelsea back in January.

There were rumours of Chelsea eyeing Rangnick after Frank Lampard was dismissed earlier in the year. However, it ended up being a pupil of his, Thomas Tuchel, who took the job. The rest is history.

Eleven months down the line and Rangnick is holding his first press conference as Manchester United manager, having taken the job on an interim basis after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was dismissed.

Predictably, he was quizzed over whether the opportunity to manage Chelsea was presented to him, something that the German confirmed, as well as explaining why he didn’t take the job.

Rangnick appears to have been enticed by the opportunity to move upstairs after completing his tenure as Man United manager and working with the club to appoint his successor.

Man United stand to benefit from his coaching expertise over the next six months, as well as having his football brain running the rule over the club for years to come.

Appointing the former RB Leipzig manager really was a no-brainer from the Man United board.
