The eight time All-Ireland winner Pat Spillane doesn’t hold back as he rips into The Sunday Game and what it has become. The former RTE pundit was writing in his weekly column with The Sunday World the Kerry man said the following;

The Sunday Game was another lowlight. OK, I know what you’re thinking, an old man reminiscing about how things were better in his day.

But as someone who was proud to have been part of The Sunday Game for 30 years, and claiming a small role in making such an iconic programme, it saddens me to see what it has become. And it’s not just me, everyone else is thinking the same.

It has become stale, boring, sanitised, safe, too rehearsed and scripted, it is no longer a much-watched programme. It needs competition and a good kick up the arse because it is not good enough.
