Newcastle United are plotting an ambitious move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to reports in Italy.
Osimhen, prior to suffering a serious eye socket injury, was establishing himself as one of the finest strikers in Europe.
With the Nigerian being just 23-years-old, you can imagine that he’s the profile of striker that would interest the elite clubs on the planet.
Nowadays, at least in terms of finances, that includes Newcastle United, who are still lingering precariously in the relegation zone.
They are looking to change that by spending their way up the table, however, and according to reports in Italy, Osimhen has emerged as a target.

It’s claimed that Newcastle have joined Arsenal in the race to sign the goal-machine, with a €70m (£58.4m) fee understood to be enough to get a deal done.
Whether they would be prepared to stump up that kind of figure before their Premier League status is assured remains to be seen.
There’s also an obvious question mark as to whether Osimhen would want to swap Napoli for Newcastle, all due respect to the Magpies.
Time will tell.
