🚨Munster rugby are set to do something unthinkable this weekend against the Ospreys ..

As we gear up for the quarter-finals of the URC, it was announced this week that the famous Munster choir will be no longer heard at Thomond Park on match days.

According to The Irish Rugby Supporters page on Facebook;

The Munster Rugby Supporters Club choir will perform for the very last time on Friday when Munster play the Ospreys. The choir was founded in 2008 and has been an integral part of match days in Thomond Park.
While the choir have chosen to disband, Munster Rugby say they have learned through supporter feedback that there is an appetite for new match day entertainment on the pitch.
They say they communicated and worked with the choir leadership to explore options for performances in other areas of the stadium on match day but the choir instead chose to disband.
Have to say it’s sad news and I feel the choir are very much part of the DNA of Munster.

Worried what they are considering as a replacement. The choir should always be on the field to sing Stand Up And Fight as a minimum.

The choir hasn’t “chosen to disband”. It was terminated by Munster Rugby. The amount of dedication the MRSCC has put in since 2008 is immense. It may have been known for just its rendition of SUAF but the repertoire extended to well over 30 pieces, in dispirit languages, which were well rehearsed and polished (and in tune despite a suggestion to the contrary by AN OTHER in this post!). We sang, officially, not only in Thomond Park and Musgrave Park but at Munster Players’ family events, by special invitation on St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ in NY, all along Fifth Avenue, Cork Opera House, Late Late Show, to name but a few. We also sang national anthems at International Football matches held in Thomond Park……all at the choristers’ own expense I might add.

  1. Absolute disgrace to do away with out fantastic choir what’s going on were envy of rugby clubs all over the world and munster rugby do this to our DNA THEY need to have a good look at themselves

  2. The choir were told their services were no longer required on the pitch. This decision was made by the officials at MRSC, they said that the feedback showed 30% of supporters wanted a change of entertainment. Suprise suprise no one I’ve spoken to was ever surveyed on the choir II asked a number of people in the supporters bar. I don’t believe they ever did a survey, this figure was plucked out of thin air in an office somewhere, they’re the ones that wanted rid of the choir, not the supporters. If they wanted a genuine opinion why didn’t they send a survey out when they were looking for our membership, they would have had genuine feedback then. The choir is part of Munster DNA, they provided great entertainment, they gave their time and service free and the supporters loved them.

  3. This dedicated Choir is essential for the successful entertainment at Munster matches. They are well loved…..lovely singers and fun! They, and the Munster supporters are very disappointed and upset at this change. Please, please reconsider! Bring on the Choir every time. Come On Stand Up And Fight.!!!
