Medical underway: Manchester United set to complete transfer after breakthrough in talks

Lisandro Martinez is reportedly in Manchester to undergo his medical ahead of a move to Old Trafford.

Despite Man United having one of the most extensive scouting departments on the planet, it seems as though all of their transfer targets for this summer’s window have come from Erik ten Hag’s own mind.

Virtually every player ever to have worked under ten Hag, or even just to have pulled on the Ajax shirt at some point in time, has been linked with a move to Man United in recent weeks.

The Red Devils have already recruited ex-Ajax Christian Eriksen and now look set to add Lisandro Martinez, who played as part as ten Hag’s defensive line during his time at the helm in Amsterdam.

As is reported by Sky Sports, Martinez is already in Manchester in order to undergo his medical, finalise a work permit and sign along the dotted line to become the newest addition to the Man United squad.

The fee, as per the report, is around £45m. It’s a hefty price to pay for a player who has never been proven at a level like the Premier League, but ten Hag evidently believes he will adapt.

Arsenal were also heavily linked with signing Martinez, but the pull of his former manager appears to have taken him to Manchester. Time will tell if that proves to be a wise decision or not.
