Floyd Mayweather is set to fight YouTube star Deji in an exhibition bout later this year – but does he even know who he is?
Mayweather has made no secret of his desire to partake in exhibition after exhibition in order to keep his bank balance ticking over, even after retiring from professional boxing.
After fighting an MMA star in Asia this weekend, Mayweather will then be looking ahead to a boxing bout with Deji, which has been pencilled in for Dubai in November time.
Deji, who is KSI’s brother, recently won his first-ever fight after three defeats and will now be taking on one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters of all-time.
To put into perspective just how much of a mismatch this is in boxing terms, it seems as though Mayweather himself doesn’t even know who Deji is.
Quoted by talkSPORT, Mayweather said, “Then I’ve got one with the guy Deji. I want to make sure I’m saying it right, it’s Deji right? We will be doing an exhibition in Dubai at the Coca-Cola Arena, that is in November.”
Mayweather will know that Deji doesn’t stand a chance, even Deji will know that, so whether they’re on first-name terms is pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
Still, it’s an early, rather disrespectful blow from Mayweather towards his upcoming opponent, informing the world how little he knows – and probably cares – about Deji.
