McGregor, 32, was well-beaten during the year’s first UFC PPV event during a lightweight bout which saw old-foe Poirier claim a second-round TKO win.

Some savage leg kicks mixed with a barrage of vicious strikes sealed the win for the American as he continued to cement his place at the top of the lightweight division’s rankings.

However, as Poirier revelled in his recent success, one fighter who would have been pulling their hair out is boxing’s Pacquiao.

It has been reported by World Boxing News that following McGregor’s loss, the Filipino boxer is set to miss out on millions.

The report states that the 42-year-old striking legend was on course to receive a bumper pay-cheque for his up and coming boxing bout against McGregor.

However, it has now been suggested that in light of McGregor’s shocking defeat, the prospect of the pair pulling in millions of pounds is now very much in doubt.

McGregor remained adamant that his fight against Pacquiao is likely to still go ahead, although the Irishman did not mention any specific figures.

Speaking after UFC 257’s main-event (as quoted by PunditArena) McGregor told reporters: “I always did want to focus on my MMA career but I’m also open. I’ll just see what happens. I don’t know what will happen.

“That Manny [Pacquiao] fight was happening. It was as good as done. I just want to get in and get back into a bounce, especially against that style of fighter, and not take those kicks.”
