Liverpool are right in the mix to sign €150m-rated Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund… but they could’ve had him for MUCH cheaper.
Bellingham has been mooted as the long-term solution to Liverpool’s midfield problems, which were certainly not addressed by the Deadline Day loan signing of Arthur Melo.
Liverpool are understood to be in the running to sign the highly-rated England international from Borussia Dortmund when the 2023 summer transfer window rolls around.
As is reported by The Athletic, they’d have to break the bank to get a deal done, with Dortmund ready to hold out for as much as €150m (£135m) for the teenager.
Liverpool may well suck it up and pay the cash, but they wouldn’t be best pleased to do so, having had the opportunity to sign him for just £9k way back at U-11 level.
As per The Athletic, Bellingham had a two-day trial at Liverpool, with the Merseyside giants keen to convince his parents to relocate in order to sign him.
However, they decided against it, with Bellingham staying at Birmingham, and the rest is history. What a missed opportunity that was for Liverpool!
