Lionel Messi was questioned by PSG fans after his disinterest in pushing forward for an equaliser during his side’s loss to Marseille.
The Parisians travelled to the south of France for their Coupe de France Round of 16 tie, but came away with defeat with the hosts winning 2-1.
Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring for Marseille with a penalty after half an hour, with Sergio Ramos equalising just before halftime.
Ruslan Malinovskyi gave Marseille the lead once again on 57 minutes and from there, the hosts held on for the win. But it could have been so different had PSG threatened in the final few minutes.
As Christoph Galtier’s searched for a leveller, Messi didn’t seem that bothered about his side’s urgency.

Recieving the ball more than once from his team mates in the final third, Messi seemingly didn’t seem keen on driving forward or putting the ball into the box, instead passing the ball back where it came from.

With five seconds left of the allotted added time, Marseille sat back comfortably while the PSG players watched their Argentinia talisman play one-twos with Fabian Ruiz, a very strange way to crash out of a cup competition they’ve won a record 14 times.
