The Limerick hurler Kyle Hayes was caught speeding on the Mallow road. The 26 year old, is reported to have been clocked speeding at 150 km/h in a 100 km/h zone near Mallow in Cork on Sunday and is due to appear in court at a later date.

A statement issued to the Irish Mirror by An Garda Síochána read: “Gardaí in Mallow arrested a man for an alleged road traffic offence on Sunday, 14th July 2024.
“The man (20s) has since been charged in relation to the incident and is due to appear at Mallow District Court at a later date. As this matter is now before the courts there is no further information available. Investigations are ongoing.
The incident occurred just a week after Cork put an end to Limerick’s bid to win five All-Ireland hurling titles in a row at the semi-final stage in Croke Park, with Hayes featuring in a Treaty side that lost by two points.
