Newcastle United player, Joelinton has received a fine after pleading guilty to a drink-driving charge at Newcastle’s Magistrates Court.
The Brazilian was pulled over by police two weeks ago at Ponteland Road, Newcastle at 1.00 am.
He then underwent a breath test and was found to be just over the legal limit. When asked if he had consumed any alcohol, Joelinton admitted that he drunk two glasses of wine before setting off in his G wagon.
Despite being pulled over by police, the midfielder featured for Newcastle just two days later against Leicester at home.
After appearing in court on Thursday, he was hit with a fine of £29,000 fine and has had his licence suspended for 12 months.
‘What is clear to me is you accept you have made a grave mistake and a significant error of judgment.’ the judge said.
‘You placed yourself in real jeopardy and it could have had disastrous consequences for the lives of others.
‘I sincerely hope you have learned from this mistake and we don’t see you in this court again.’
