Jake Paul has revealed his desire to “exterminate” Anderson Silva when the pair meet in the ring next month.
It was recently announced that Paul, who has former UFC stars Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley on his record already, would be meeting Anderson Silva in the boxing ring.
Silva is widely regarded as one of the finest the MMA world has ever seen. In his latter years, he has laced up his gloves and turned to boxing, where he currently resides.
Though Silva is now 47 years old and is not naturally a boxer, but Paul believes that this is his toughest fight to date. Still, he’s out to “exterminate” his opponent when they meet.
Quoted by The Sun, Paul said: “Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva is the most versatile fighter the world has ever seen.”
“Just a year ago he outclassed boxing champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and showed the world why he is often referred to as the greatest fighter of all time.”
“Every expert, from MMA to boxing, has said Jake Paul won’t fight Anderson Silva. They said Jake Paul is afraid of Anderson Silva, and Jake Paul would lose to Anderson Silva.”
“Well, to all the non-believers – Jake Paul is fighting Anderson Silva. It’s an honour to have the opportunity to share the ring with the greatest UFC striker of all time.”
“On Saturday, October 29, I will walk humbly into the ring, touch gloves with a living legend and do my best to exterminate ‘The Spider.'”
There’s no denying Paul is taking a risk by fighting Silva, but it’s also not as big a test as Tommy Fury or Hasim Rahman Jr would have been for the American.
Fighting, and even beating, Anderson Silva will not greatly strengthen his credentials. He will not have fought an archetypal boxer in his boxing career.
