Every time the news of a sports person signing a new contract or sponsorship deal hits the headlines, we marvel at the amount of money they command.
But recent analysis underlines one particular point – the massive difference in earnings between professional male and female sports people.
As recent BBC study found that in 30% of professional sports, men get more money than women.
For example in soccer, the World Cup winners in the men’s competition earn €31 million, while the successful team in the women’s competition will only earn €0.8 million. A staggering difference.
This graphic from VoucherCloud highlights the differences between men and women’s earnings in major professional sports including football, tennis, boxing and golf.
It certainly makes for interesting reading.
