World no 1 McIlroy made a faster than expected recovery from injured ankle ligaments to return and defend his title, and Shane Lowry made sure there will be plenty of eyes on him with an impressive win at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational.
Irish fans will also be keeping an eye on Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke.
