Ian Holloway takes aim at Roy Keane for ‘annoying’ him and taking digs at Liverpool

Ian Holloway has taken aim at Roy Keane static that he finds it annoying that the TV pundit ‘can’t wait to get a dig in’ at Liverpool.

Holloway has criticised Keane’s punditry on Sky Sports, saying in one instance that he ‘couldn’t wait to get a dig in at Liverpool!’

Keane is known for his brutally honest assessments of football matches but Holloway thinks it’s unnecessary as all Premier League managers are under intense scrutiny and don’t need extra negativity.

Holloway managed eight clubs throughout his career including Blackpool, Crystal Palace and QPR and he says he has huge respect for all Premier League managers and Keane’s punditry ‘annoyed’ him on one particular occasion.

Speaking to The Sun Holloway said: ‘I take my hat off to all of them (Premier League managers) because I understand the pressure of how you might feel because of the media – the media cause a lot of this,’

‘I thought Jurgen Klopp last night (following Liverpool’s goalless draw with United on January 17th) was magnificent in dealing with what happened and the game and how proud he was of his team.

‘Because he’s lost some major, major players. And Man United haven’t really lost any of them yet.

‘I found it interesting because Roy Keane annoyed me a bit he’s all “we’re doing well again” and he couldn’t wait to get a dig in at Liverpool.’

Keane’s outspoken style and raw opinions have been welcomed by many fans and the Irish legend is starting to gain bit of a cult following which features fans that just want someone to tell it as it is.

The former Manchester United captain has proven he’s worth his sauce on a couple of occasions with his assessment of Olé Gunnar Solskjaer being one in particular.

Early in 2020 there were calls to have the Norwegian sacked as Manchester United boss but Keane insisted he needed more time – a suggestion that is seemingly working out.

The Cork man also wondered why Frank Lampard was allowed to keep his job for so long when there were obvious signs of struggles. Lampard was sacked in January 2021 and replace by Thomas Tuchel 12 months after Keane’s remarks.
