Sky Sports announced last year that they would be ending their partnership with the GAA after several years. This weekend all the hurling matches were on GAAGO, where you had to pay top dollar to watch.
There are now calls from some on social media to bring back Sky Sports. ‘If you’re going to pay for it, let’s pay for quality’ said one supporter.

@DuignanMichael another big hurling game not free to air tonight not that rte ever was free but so much for your anti sky crusade it really worked a treat

Don’t think that holds up, Sky had good few provincial hurling games live on Saturday nights over last few years. I don’t see this GAAGO deal being much different to Sky and it has resulted in more games being shown.

Where is Michael Duignan and his rants about hurling being on sky ppv meaning older people can't see it now? https://t.co/2t1g915Cpo

It looks like that’s the world we live in now, that you just have to pay to watch live sport unfortunately. The GAA might be seen as an amateur organisation, but make no doubt about it, it’s a business and one of the richest businesses in Europe!
This is certainly causing a lot of debate online..
