Hugo Lloris has revealed how he really feels about Emiliano Martinez’s antics in the World Cup final penalty shootout.
Argentina claimed their third-ever World Cup when they beat France in the final after a thrilling game. When the 120 minutes were up, the game was level at 3-3 and a penalty shootout was required to name a victor.

Argentina clearly had more confidence going into the nervy shootout, not just because they already won one already in the tournament but because they had Martinez on their side.
The Aston Villa goalkeeper has proved to be formidable in shootouts, he has opted to intimidate opponents by playing mind games. This tactic worked in the final as France missed three penalties and Argentina won but not everybody was impressed by his antics.
Speaking to Get France Football News, French goalkeeper Lloris slammed Martinez for his behaviour and stated that he couldn’t ‘make a fool of myself in goal’.
“There are some things I can’t do,” says Lloris.
“Making a fool of myself in goal, rattling my opponent and crossing the line… I just can’t do that. I’m too rational and honest a man to go that way. I don’t know how to win like that, although I didn’t really want to lose like that either.“
The Aston Villa goalkeeper rattled even more feathers with his post-match celebrations but Lloris chose not to have a go at him for that.
“He was instrumental. Concerning his celebrations, he has been judged enough for that, no need to add anything more. During the shoot-out, he used every trick in the books to destabilise us.”
The Tottenham shot-stopper just announced his retirement from international football after 145 caps for France.
