Gary Neville has called out the suggested Premier League circuit breaker idea in which the league would be put on hold for a couple of weeks in order to give clubs a chance to reset and take control over COVID-19 again.
The proposed circuit-breaker is designed to give clubs the chance to allow people who return positive COVID-19 test results the opportunity to self-isolate and get a firm grip on the virus once again.
The circuit breaker seems more likely than ever now after the Everton v Manchester City game was called off due to a COVID outbreak.
Cancelled: Tottenham’s Premier League tie vs Fulham off due to Covid-19 outbreak
Fulham’s clash with Tottenham is the latest casualty after their game was called off less then four hours to kick-off due to another outbreak – leading people to think is a circuit breaker on the cards?
Gary Neville has taken to social media to offer his opinion and he thinks the idea won’t work simply because ‘the players would have to carry on mixing and training.’
Can we please get this two week circuit breaker thing off the table . The players would have to carry on mixing and training to be ready in 2 weeks for a match. They may get 4-5 days off. What is that going to do . Would have to be a long break to do anything meaningful!

It seems it’s not just Neville who thinks the circuit breaker won’t work as Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish commented on the post simply saying ‘Bang on!!’

It remains to be seen what the Premier League will do but football is certainly at risk of being postponed once again.
