England & Gareth Southgate get out of jail once again ..

Talk about riding your luck, England got out of jail once again last night, this time against Slovakia in the last 16 of the Euros. If England lost on Sunday night it would have been Iceland part II all over again.

England with all the players they have, they just can’t seem to pull it together for their national team. The question is being asked over and over again, do England have the right manger?

Watching that performance last night, it’s quite obvious that they don’t! Every pundit alike was asking Gareth Southgate to make a change and still he refused. What people can’t understand is why not start who he wants to start and then when the 60 minute mark hits, bring on some of the star players he has one the bench.

I’m sure the other teams would hate to see the likes of Cole Palmer, Anthony Gordon, Trent etc coming on to the pitch after 60/70 minutes when opposition are out on their feet.

Southgate got off the hook last night thanks to an unbelievable throw from Kyle Walker and a header from Ivan Toney on to the 21 year old Jude Bellingham to bicycle kick the ball into the back of the net.

England play Switzerland next in the quarter-finals and if England don’t make some serious changes they don’t stand a chance, because the Swiss are an even better than Slovakia. Tickets can be got for that one and other football matches at 1st4footballtickets

It’s amazing how good these players are for their clubs and then how shocking they are when it comes to putting on the white shirt of England. To be fair to Gareth Southgate, a lot of big name managers have tried managing previous England teams and they have all failed miserably.

This England team is different though, the same club rivalries don’t’ seem to exist in the squad and they are all pulling in the same direction, unlike the golden generation with players like Gerrard, Scholes and Lampard all representing the fierce rivalry that existed at club level at that time.

The good news for England and Gareth Southgate is, they are still in the tournament and still have an unbelievable squad of players. Our advise to Southgate would be .. At least go down fighting, don’t be afraid to make the changes and act otherwise England might not be so lucky next time ..
