Tyson Fury has revealed that he will be announcing his next fight next week – and it WON’T be against Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury has come out of his relatively short retirement spell and revealed his desire to fight Usyk for the opportunity to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.
After Usyk escaped from his rematch with Anthony Joshua with the belts, it now very much looks as though that fight will be coming to fruition at some point.
However, despite Fury’s desire to stage it in December, Usyk insists that he wants a period out of the ring to rest, recover and spend time with his family.
Fury is not going to sit around and wait for the Ukrainian, however. He claims he is set to announce his upcoming fight next week, as quoted by The Sun.
“Usyk was calling me out after his last fight with Joshua, I’ve replied and said let’s do the fight this year, wherever they want to do it.
“I’ve been waiting for offers from countries to come forward, and all of a sudden Usyk has stated he doesn’t want to fight any more, he wants to fight next year, not this year.
“So, I’m not going to wait around for anybody, I’m announcing a fight next week.”
If Fury is telling the truth, it’s hard to imagine it being anyone other than Derek Chisora, who he has been repeatedly calling out via his social media channels.
