Today is the start of ten midweek fixtures in the Premier League which means it’s time to update your fantasy team yet again. Here are the five players that you need to put into your squad and five you can do without.
Ins
Craig Dawson
Since Tony Pulis took charge of West Brom on New Years Day, it’s unsurprising that their defensive performances have improved. Having been benched for a lengthy period of time, centre half Craig Dawson returned to the starting line up and has picked up three clean sheets in his last five appearances.
Philippe Coutinho
Another brilliant piece of magic from Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho gave Liverpool a well earned 2-1 victory over Man City on Sunday. Having scored a sublime goal against Southampton the week before, he is on great form and is a great option in your Fantasy team.
Christian Eriksen
Due to the fact that Tottenham are playing and extra fixture against QPR this Saturday having postponed it for a week due to the Capital One Cup final on Sunday, there is a double chance that you score fantasy points with a Spurs player and who better than Christian Eriksen. I assume Harry Kane is already in because you’d be mad not to include him at this stage!
Branislav Ivanovic
Possibly the most on form defender in the league at the moment, the Chelsea right back has scored four goals in all competitions since New Years Day, two of which in the Premier League. Having won the Capital One Cup on Sunday, he will be in great spirit for Wednesday’s game against West Ham.
Charlie Austin
Another player to feature twice this gameweek, Austin will be providing the headaches for the Arsenal and Spurs defences having scored against the former in QPR’s 2-1 loss on St. Stephen’s Day.
Outs
Andre Wisdom
The on loan Liverpool defender played almost every minute for West Brom up until Pulis took over. However Wisdom hasn’t featured in the Baggies starting 11 at all in February. With West Brom in good form lately, Wisdom’s game time will be limited.
Alexis Sanchez
Since returning from injury, he has struggled to find the net and hasn’t set up any goals either. With a pricey cost of £11.4m, Sanchez’s form is decreasing but luckily for Arsenal they’ve finally proven that without Sanchez they’re a match for anyone.
Jonathan Walters
Nobody will forget Jonny Walters’ hat trick against QPR. Not only was it a ‘perfect’ hat trick, it was Walters and Stoke’s first ever Premier League hat trick. It was a bit of a one hit wonder moment however for the Irish international as he hasn’t found the net since.
Graziano Pelle
The Southampton striker hasn’t found the net since their 3-0 win over Everton on the 20th December. He should be avoided at all costs.
Gylfi Sigurdsson
Since his sending off in the FA Cup against Blackburn, he returned for 73 minutes against Manchester United two weeks ago but an injury ruled him out of the Burnley tie last Saturday.
