Joao Felix has spoken out on claims that Manchester United launched an enormous £110m move to sign him towards the end of the summer transfer window.
Felix was once regarded to be in the same bracket as Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland. While still highly regarded at Atletico Madrid, it’s safe to say his trajectory is no longer comparable.
Still, Felix did reportedly attract interest from one of the biggest names in football, Manchester United, over the summer window. The Red Devils were said to be prepared to spend BIG money.
However, as quoted by the Daily Mail, Felix claims that he knew nothing about the apparent £110m move from Man United, “nothing came to me. The presidents deal with these things. I’m here.”
“I have the feeling that I have to do everything to help the club and the team. I try to prove that and if my colleagues see me as a leader, the better. This way we are more connected and we will enjoy much more.”
Felix was coy on whether he would have entertained Manchester United interest. From a short-term, footballing perspective, there’s certainly an argument that it would have been a step-down.
The Portugal international is destined for greatness and perhaps a move to United would have shackled him further. This could prove to be a blessing in disguise for the youngster.
