A 38 year-old man working as a groundsman for Ligue 1 side FC Lorient has reportedly died after a floodlight bar at the stadium fell on him.
The tragic accident happened at 7.00pm local time shortly after Lorient’s 3-0 defeat against Rennes on Sunday evening.
A defibrillator was used on the volunteer on the pitch before he was rushed to hospital where he sadly died due to his injuries .

The shocking incident has shook the football world and Ligue 1 leaving both players and staff at the scene in a state of complete shock following the freak accident.
It’s believed that the volunteer gounds worker was carrying out his post match duties following the full-time whistle when a floodlight ramp, used for pitch maintenance, collapsed on him.
Two other grounds workers were also injured and taken to hospital but thankfully neither of them suffered any life threatening injuries.
According to local news reports the man was a father of three.
