A controversially penalty given in the last 10 minutes of Brighton Hove Albion vs Southampton today was the game changer. Southampton substitute Danny Ings converted from the spot and gave the visitors the full 3 points, robbing Brighton of a draw.
Jamie Carragher analysed the decision after the game trying to explain why it took VAR 2 minutes to make the decision and why it was the correct decision but fans do not agree with him. Freddie doesn’t even agree with him over it and I’m in the same boat as Freddie.
Should #SaintsFC have been awarded a penalty for this challenge?

Fans were furious with VAR for taking so long to overrule the official in something so marginal, with fans frequently quoting the ‘clear and obvious error’ that VAR supporters say the service was implemented for.
What was clear and obvious with this decision? It took 2 full minutes of looking at different angles and it’s still debatable that it is not a penalty.
See some fan reaction here:
If it takes longer than 90 seconds to decide, then it’s not clear and obvious, so go with the referee’s original decision.

VAR just seem intent on forcing themselves on decisions that we’re told should only be overturned if it’s clear and obvious, if you need to spend several minutes looking at slowed down videos it’s not clear and obvious, terrible decision but bad karma from last week for Brighton
