Turkish football can be a handful at the best of times, but today, fans witnessed something absolutely horrendous.
In a match between Goztepe and Altay – known as the Izmir derby – in the Turkish second division, a supporter ran onto the pitch with a stick during a break in play unbeknownst to the stewards and players, and hit Altay goalkeeper Ozan Evrim Ozenc over the head.

As well as the stick incident, some Goztepe fans in the stadium were injured after a flare was fired towards them from the Altay end.
Due to the events, the match was postponed.
Ozenc’s attacker was taken into custody by the stadium’s police following his actions.
Yet Turkey and its teams can still play in europe strange that if that was in England all teams would be banned for about 5 years
