🚨 Ex-fighter posts his payslip from old UFC event, it’s surprised MMA fans

Gary Goodridge has posted his old payslips from UFC 9 and 10 leaving many fans surprised.

“Big Daddy” fought early on in the company’s infancy against the likes of Don Frye and Mark Coleman.

In his career he amassed a record of 23 wins with 22 defeats and last fought in the UFC in 1999 before switching to the legendary Pride FC.

He revealed he was paid a tidy sum of £15,000 for participating at UFC 9, before receiving another £5,000 payment three days later for the same event.

At UFC 9, he lost via technical knockout to Marc Schultz.

At the next event he defeated John Campetella to reach the semi-finals, before losing to eventual winner Mark Coleman.

For UFC 10, Goodridge shows a payment of £5,000, while he receives another £10,000 for an event in February 1996.

Fight fans responded to the pay being leaked.

One wrote: “Not a terrible check for fighting back then when the UFC was just getting started.”

A second said: “Dawg was making more in 1996 than at least 20 per cent of fighters make today.”

A third commented: “To think there are UFC fighters whose base pay is less than this today

A fourth replied: “15k in ’96 was a good amount of money btw.”
