Kilkenny’s Eoin Larkin picked up a hand injury in a training game over the weekend, but hopes to recover in time for the All-Ireland final against Galway on September 6.

The 31-year-old suffered the injury during an in-house game at Fota Island, where the Kilkenny squad were based for a weekend training camp.

Eoin Larkin captained the Kilkenny side that won the All-Ireland in 2012.

The Irish Examiner reported this morning that the star forward was expected to be fit in time to face Galway, but there have been suggestions since that the injury may be more serious.

Newstalk report that Larkin has broken his thumb, which would normally require a recovery time of three to six weeks.
