England fans BOOED Harry Maguire as his name was read out ahead of the Three Lions’ clash with Germany this evening.
Gareth Southgate’s men, fresh off a 1-0 defeat against Italy at the San Siro, headed into tonight’s game with Germany knowing they needed a positive result.
Momentum is at an all-time low, and with this being the final 90 minutes of football before the World Cup in Qatar, Southgate needed to make every minute count.
It’s for that reason that you have to once again question why Southgate decided to pick the struggling Harry Maguire as part of his trademark back five.
It’s not a decision that went down among the England faithful, with The Sun reporting that Maguire’s name was booed by the Wembley crowd ahead of kick-off.
England supporters evidently have no intention of supporting Maguire through this difficult period. They want him out of the team ahead of the World Cup.
Sadly, it doesn’t look likely that they’re going to get his wish, which is likely to be a considerable factor in England’s seemingly inevitable demise in Qatar.
