Dublin name unchanged side for Mayo semi-final

By Stephen Barry

Jim Gavin has named the same team that started in Dublin’s All-Ireland quarter-final victory to face Mayo on Sunday.

Gavin, who made late changes before the Fermanagh victory, continues with Denis Bastick at midfield, although the Templeogue Synge St man was substituted at half-time last time out for 2013 Footballer of the Year Michael Darragh MacAuley.

Diarmuid Connolly will wear the familiar number 12 jersey despite speculation about the talismanic forward taking a place at the end of the square.

Dublin will be looking to repeat the outcome of their 2013 All-Ireland final clash with Mayo, when every member of Gavin’s current team saw action, bar midfield newcomer Brian Fenton.

Mayo have already announced their team for Sunday’s semi-final, with Chris Barrett taking over at centre-back.

Dublin team to play Mayo:

Stephen Cluxton (Parnells, Captain);

Jonny Cooper (Na Fianna), Rory O’Carroll (Kilmacud Crokes), Philip McMahon (Ballymun Kickhams);

James McCarthy (Ballymun Kickhams), Cian O’Sullivan (Kilmacud Crokes), Jack McCaffrey (Clontarf);

Brian Fenton (Raheny), Denis Bastick (Templeogue Synge St);

Paul Flynn (Fingallians), Ciarán Kilkenny (Castleknock), Diarmuid Connolly (St Vincent’s);

Dean Rock (Ballymun Kickhams), Paddy Andrews (St Brigid’s), Bernard Brogan (St Oliver Plunkett’s ER).
