The famous Dublin club of Kilmacud Crokes were saddened to hear of the passing of Barney Carr, father of Paddy Carr, manager of Crokes All-Ireland winning Senior football team of 2009.

The Dublin GAA club wrote the following in their website;

Barney was an ever-present at league, championship and challenge matches during a hugely successful period in the club’s history that saw our senior footballers claim 2 Dublin Div. 1 league titles, 2 Dublin and Leinster senior titles and, of course, what was then only our second-ever All-Ireland title, won on a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day in 2009.

Paddy, Barney’s son, played underage in Kilmacud Crokes in the 1970s and, having moved away to live in Meath, returned to manage our senior team from 2008 to 2011. Success aside, Paddy’s positivity, infectious enthusiasm and the ethos of dignity and discipline he promoted on and off the field left a deep and lasting impression on a generation of players in Kilmacud.

The club would like to extend its sympathies to Paddy and all the extended Carr family on their sad loss.
