Cristiano Ronaldo has been charged by the Football Association after a video of him slapping a boy’s phone out of his hand went viral online.
Ronaldo was, understandably, frustrated in wake of Man United’s defeat to relegation-threatened Everton towards the back end of the previous campaign.
Still, that was no excuse to be slapping people’s phones out of their hands as he trudged off the pitch and down the tunnel towards the away dressing room.
As The Sun report, so it turned out, the boy on the receiving end of Ronaldo’s fury was also autistic. It’s a PR disaster for a man considered Mr. Marketability in the sporting world.
As the report states, it’s now got even worse for Ronaldo, with the FA releasing a statement confirming that they have charged Ronaldo for a code violation.
“Cristiano Ronaldo has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 for an incident that took place after Manchester United FC’s Premier League match against Everton on Saturday 9 April 2022.”
“It is alleged that the forward’s conduct after the final whistle was improper and/or violent,” the statement read. It’s the last thing CR7 needs in the midst of a difficult campaign…
