The Newcestown club man appeared for the Rebel footballers from 1969 to 1984 with All-Star awards in 1980 and ’82 – although he did miss the 1973 Sam Maguire triumph as he had stepped away from Donie O’Donovan’s squad to focus on his studies.

He won three Munster titles with Cork 1971, 1974 and 1983.

The teak-tough defender won All-Ireland minor and under-21 football titles with his county too while he was also part of the Cork hurling management set-up that claimed a famous All-Ireland three in a row from 1974 to ‘76.

We send our deepest condolences to his close family and friends at this time. A Rebel legend.
